My Best and Worst "E.L.F. Cosmetics" Products
Who doesn't love high quality makeup at a drug store price? Here are some of the products I love and use in my daily routine, and also some that weren't so great.
So, let's start off on a good note with my top 5 E.L.F Cosmetics products.
Top 5:
5. Putty Blush
So, I tried this product twice; the first time I bought Turks and Caicos, I couldn't wait to get rid of it because it was so stiff and didn't blend at all with my foundation. I gave it to my best friend and she never used it, so I bought a different colour, Bahamas. I played around with the two colours and after watching a YouTube video by Robert Welsh, I learned to warm it up first with my hand then go in with a brush and apply so it's more of a cream.

4. SRSLY Satin Lipstick
I love lip products, but I really love when a lip product is easy to apply and versatile. I've used the shades, Cider, Raspberry and Nectar. If you're in Canada, these lipsticks can even be found at Dollar Tree for $1.25! These can be used with a lip brush or directly from the lipstick itself.
$3 USD, $4 CAD
3. Concealer and Foundation Complexion Duo Brush
This is definitely one of my absolutely favourite brushes I own. I even bought two; one for creams and liquid, one for powders. The bristles are so soft and I've had mine for about a year now and they're still like brand new, both ends. The concealer end is even great for cleaning up the brows. I don't like, however, that I have to buy it only on the E.L.F site because no retailer in Canada has this brush.
$8 USD
2. Liquid Matte Lipstick
I have many memories tied to this lipstick in the shade "Blushing Rose", I wore it to a few events and it was just the perfect flirty shade but also gave me kind of an edge. I absolutely love the shade "Red Vixen" as well, a lovely "vampire" red I like to call it, because it's so sharp and vibrant.
$6 USD, $7 CAD
1. Bite Sized Face Duo
This is a newer discovery of mine, I actually got it on Amazon, and when it arrived, the highlighter was completely crushed. I managed to salvage some of it and thank God I did, because it's one of my favourite highlighters now. The shade I got was White Peach. The blush is incredibly pigmented and the highlighter blends seamlessly, doesn't emphasize the texture on my face and it's not glittery.
$3 USD, $4 CAD
Now, here are some of my least favourite products.
Bottom 5:
5. Shadow Lock Eye Primer
I used this a few times and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it's basically a glorified concealer. It still makes my eyeshadow move and crease, and it's pretty small as well. To be fair, it is pretty cheap versus the other ones I have tried from NARS and Urban Decay.
$3 USD, $2.97 CAD
4. Retro Paradise Glow Up Body Oil
This was on sale when I got it and I'm happy I didn't pay full price because it has such a strange scent to it; it doesn't smell like the beach, or anything tropical but more of a moldy scent that isn't pleasant. It looks fine, but I'm more a fan of the SOL Body oils rather than this one, especially because of the scent.
$12 USD
3. Lip Primer and Plumper
You don't need a lip primer, in my honest opinion. When you apply your foundation, you're concealing your lips anyway so one side of this product was already useless for me. Now, I love a good lip plumper but this one burned my lips more than any other plumper has and tasted like cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
$4 USD
2. Bite Sized Eyeshadow
Again, for the price, you get what you pay for. 2 matte shades and 2 shimmers. My issue with the darkest matte is that it can be blotchy and not blend well, and the shimmers are very light so you have to spray a brush and really dig it into the pan or use your finger and really dig it in as well. I tried Cream and Sugar as well as Rose Water. This was overhyped in my opinion, it's basic and nothing really exciting about it other than it would be a good size to travel with.
$3 USD, $3.97 CAD
1. Flawless Finish Foundation
This was one of my first E.L.F products that I tried when I first started makeup, and I wasn't a fan of it from the start. It has this strange scent that kind of reminds me of AXE cologne (which is not a compliment) and I'm not too crazy about having scents on my face like that because I want to smell my perfume, not my foundation. The coverage is buildable...but when you build it to medium coverage, it becomes cakey. Overall, not a product I'd repurchase or advise you to buy.
$6 USD, $7.97 CAD
So, I hope that helps you all when you're purchasing your own E.L.F products, but do keep in mind this is not a criticism on the brand itself, but rather the products that I found let me down, when I was expecting something more. I really do like the brand, and order a lot of their products, so I do definitely advise you to check out the top 5 products, or even the bottom 5 and see if they work for you, but for me they didn't. Everyone will have a different experience with different products, of course.
Vi voglio bene,
Melissa
