My Favourite Summer-Proof Makeup Products

We all want to glow in the summer, but not because we're sweating. Here are some of my summer-proof favs, that have lasted me through many days above 30 degrees C.

Let's go, shall we?

NARS Soft Matte Foundation in Mont Blanc

Of course the shade I use has nothing to do with how the foundation itself performs, but I do really like the shade matches, especially this is perfect for my skin right now, June has just begun so I have barely a tan yet. This foundation doesn't oxidize to that awful orange that we all can't stand, it actually sits very comfortably on the skin and blends perfectly, really looking like my skin but better. I have some pretty intense redness on my cheeks and this foundation is full coverage yet lightweight, covers it perfectly. Something to look for in a foundation in the summer is definitely the coverage you desire but as light weight feeling on the skin as possible. You're bound to collect oil on your face through the day especially in the summer with the heat, so a light layer of makeup would be ideal but your coverage shouldn't be compromised. This foundation will keep your base looking naturally matte but not cakey, light weight yet full coverage...it's honestly perfect. NARS, if by some chance you're reading this, I love your foundation.

ELF xx Jen Atkin Mist Me?

Now, I have heard fantastic things about the Milani Make It Last spray but I haven't tried it yet, so this for now is my current favourite for the warm weather. It smells lightly of coconut and really melts my makeup together, like most setting sprays do. This is more of a refresher, but I like to really drench my face and let it dry or blow dry it (on cold) to melt everything into the skin. I'm not sure for how long this collection is going to be available, but since it is right now, I think it's worth the try. It even smells like summer to me, reminds me of a tropical beach. Summer approved!

P.S. It says on the ELF site that it doesn't ship internationally but I got it and I'm in Canada so...

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Joy

I love these Rare Beauty blushes so much, and this colour Joy is definitely summer approved. It gives that coral sun kissed look and it's a dewy finish. I want to try this together with my NARS Soft Matte Foundation, to see how the two textures and finishes blend together...I'll get back to you guys on that. But, beware of the pigment of this blush because a little bit does go a long way, especially in the dewy finish because they're more liquidy than the matte shades I find, as those are more of a cream. It looks super natural and seeing that you use a little bit since the pigment is so intense, you're not caking on a huge layer of blush; less layers, less oil buildup and makeup breakage.

ELF HD Powder in Sheer

In my book, you'll always need at least a little bit of powder to really set and lock in your makeup even if you have dry skin like me. This is perfect because it blurs and doesn't give a white cast, nor change the colour of your makeup underneath. It's perfect for the summer if you want to touch up during the day or set your makeup once in the morning because I find that it does set everything in place and I can actually lean my hand on my face, and not have any transfer of foundation especially. Yes, you will still build a bit of oil on your face, it's just inevitable but this does delay the appearance of it.

Rare Beauty Blot & Glow Blotting Paper Refill

I haven't bought the Blot & Glow Touch Up Kit because, quite frankly, it's a bit expensive and I'm not going anywhere as of late so I don't really mind having to makeshift my own kit with the refill. There are 100 sheets in the refill, more than enough to get you through the summer. I find that in the afternoon I blot my cheeks and t-zone, then I'm good for the rest of the day. This literally catches the oil that's on your face and takes it onto the paper, it's perfect for the summer. When Toronto starts opening up patios and fun places to go, then I might consider getting the kit for $34 CAD, rather than just using the papers out of the box.

$6.00 CAD

Let me know what your summer staples are, and if you've tried any of mine!

Vi voglio bene,

Melissa
