My Summer 2021 Road Trip Playlist
This is definitely the playlist for you if you're going to be driving up to cottage country or even heading to Downtown Toronto (or wherever!)
Like I Can - Sam Smith
“There may be lovers who hold out their hands but, they'll never love you like I can.”
This has been one of my favourite songs since it came out in 2014. It's so fun to sing along when you're driving in the car or even working out. A must have on your summer playlist...it's already on every playlist I have!
Young Girls - Bruno Mars
“Oh I still dream of a simple life, boy meets girl makes her his wife.”
I love, love, love this song. It's so fun to listen to with friends and sing along. Any song from this album (Unorthodox Jukebox) is a banger, I wish Bruno Mars would come out with more songs like this that I could add to my playlist.
Breaking Me - Topic, A7S
“The rhythm that you play when you're breaking my heart, you know that I can't get you out of my system.”
Not going to lie to you guys, this song can get very old, very quickly. I've heard it at a party and at the gym, it can be used in pretty much any high energy setting. It is pretty repetitive, but I do like it since it's not too long. The acoustic version is also nice, but this version is more of a road trip song.
Hoy Vine - Il Volo
“Tú y yo, alumbraríamos al mundo, brillaríamos como el sol”
If, like me, you're familiar with this band, you know that this isn't their usual style. They switched their D&G suits for club wear in this album, and honestly, it's so fun. I love this song so much because it's great for the drive up to the beach and when you want to dance around on the beach as well.
Classic - MKTO
“Oh, girl, you're shining, like a Fifth Avenue diamond.”
Such a classic song...(see what I did there?) and i love all of the references in this song of Michael Jackson, Prince, Fifth Avenue, it honestly makes me feel expensive. The beat reminds me of Bruno Mars which I adore, so for that reason alone it would have made my playlist in a heartbeat.
Why Don't We Go There - One Direction
“We got all night, and we're going nowhere...let's take a ride out in the cold air."
This song brings me back to the days when I would go to Downtown Toronto for a concert, or any kind of event really, and have this blaring in my ears because it made me feel like I was going on an adventure, which I was. The perfect soundtrack to a road trip.
Aurora - Lionfield
“So anytime you feel alone, forget the silence of your empty room."
I love listening to this when I leave and start driving somewhere early in the morning, or late at night. To me, it sounds like the sunset and sunrise, if that makes sense. The bridge especially just gives such a euphorical feeling that I love and always makes me smile. This is more of a "driving to the beach to see the sunrise" vibe, and I love it.
And so, friends, I hope you enjoyed my Summer 2021 Road Trip playlist as much as I do, and I encourage you to check out these songs as well as the artists themselves; who knows, you might find your own perfect summer playlist!
Vi voglio bene,
Melissa
