Interview with Passionflix's Wait With Me "Book Boyfriend", Andrew Biernat

Passionflix has done it yet again in properly adapting a romance book to a movie, and Andrew Biernat delivered everything that readers and viewers alike expected! I got a chance to talk with Andrew about his career, the film and how he felt falling into the title, "book boyfriend".

First off I just want to say thank you so much again for taking time out of your busy schedule to participate in this interview! I’d love to know, what was the response to your involvement in Wait With Me from your community?

It’s my pleasure. Thank you so much for wanting to interview me!😊🙏

When Passionflix announced I was playing Miles Hudson, the response was amazing! The love and support I received was honestly so heartwarming. And although it’s never a small task to take on a beloved character from a best selling author, the support I received made it a little easier for me to do so.

How did you find it to fall into the role of the “book boyfriend”, knowing how readers had an expectation of who Miles was?

I felt an instant connection with Miles as soon as I read the script. And from that I just did a deep dive into all the source material that I had at my finger tips. I can’t tell you how many times I read the script but I can tell you I read the book at least 15 times. I also would listen to the audio book while I was working out everyday. But I felt like Miles and I had so much in common that it wasn’t really that big of a leap for me to put myself in his shoes. I am Miles Hudson in so many ways.

What’s something that we - as viewers - wouldn’t know about the movie just by watching it? Were there any improvised scenes, some things that didn’t go to plan, etc?

One thing I really liked that was not scripted was when I wiped a tear from Mercedes/Kate’s eye after she fainted and began expressing her worries about how nobody appreciates Betty The Baker. Madison was absolutely amazing in that scene and I was captivated by her during the entirety of it. My reactions were all genuine and I was truly just reacting to what she was doing. When I saw that tear roll down her cheek I just couldn’t help it.

As a makeup artist myself, I’m curious to know about your experience in the makeup chair as a leading actor in the film.

Blythe Tierney Dever was the head makeup artist for Wait With Me but she was so much more than that. The love I have for this amazing human is beyond words. I can talk about her incredible talent as a makeup artist but her work speaks for itself. If you have watched the film you can see how great we all look in every scene. But behind the camera we laughed, we cried, and we became life long friends. I told Blythe that if I ever make it in this industry to where I can afford to hire my own private makeup artist, she has the job. That was my experience in the makeup chair on this film.

How did you first get into acting? How long have you been in the industry?

Well at a very young age I showed lots of signs that my life would be going in this direction. I would immerse myself into certain characters that I would obsess over. I literally wanted to become them. And although I didn’t really know it at the time, I was entertaining my mom and her friends with my antics. But I didn’t start actually studying acting until 2017. I found myself in an acting class in San Diego, California and I fell in love. I haven’t been able to stop since.

To prepare for your role as Miles in Wait With Me, did you read the book beforehand?

Yes I did. 15 times to be exact haha! Being an actor, it’s very rare to have so much source material for a character. In the book, Amy writes in dual point of view. So I knew exactly what Miles was thinking in majority of the scenes.

Thank you again, Andrew, for this interview. I’ll leave you with one last question; what is something we can expect from you in the near future? (Future projects, announcements, etc)

Possibly the rest of the Wait With Me series books. 😉

There you have it! I cannot thank Andrew enough for participating in this interview. If you haven't seen Wait With Me, you can find it on Passionflix and save $2 on your first three months of the streaming service with the promo code "MILES". Passionflix has many book to movie adaptations that are sure to impress, another personal favourite of mine would be the Gabriel's Inferno series that was adapted in 2020, and now Wait With Me can be added to that list!
